Apislavia history

Apislavia development history started in XIX century in Bulgaria (Sofia), at 10th anniversary of Bulgarian Beekeeping Union foundation, where Russian and other countries representatives were invited. Establishment of All-Slavic Beekeeping Union was proposed by N. M. Kulagin, the famous Russian scientist and zoologist, who was its first chairman, at the meeting of Bulgarian Beekeeping Union in 1910. The Union Articles stated that the Union is aimed at strengthening of relations between Slavic beekeepers and beekeeping organizations to protect their interests and develop rational beekeeping in Slavic countries.

The second meeting of All-Slavic Beekeeping Union was held in Belgrade in 1911, the third one – in Moscow in 1913, the fourth one – in Prague in 1927, the fifth one – in Poznan (1929), the sixth one – in Belgrade (1934), the seventh one – in Sofia (1937). Since that moment All-Slavic Beekeeping Union activity was stopped.

In 1990 in Poland at the meeting of beekeepers from Russia, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland and Czech Republic, initiated by Poland Beekeeping Union, was raised a question concerning Slavic Beekeeping Union activity revival. The Union activity was revived as part of new federation, called Federation of Beekeepers of Slavic and Donau Region Countries. The Congresses are held every two years since 1992.

Bratislava – 1992 and 2006, Veligrad (Poland) – 1994, Moscow – 1996, Kiev – 1998 and 2008, Belgrade – 2000, Prague – 2002, Skopje (Macedonia) – 2005, Bulgaria – 2010, Poland – 2012, Turkey – 2014, Kazakhstan – 2016.
